Australian Government Determined Guidelines Apply

Dwellings or workplaces contaminated by residues from consumption or production of illicit drugs is a serious issue in modern Australia. The federal government has mandated levels and processes by which potentially contaminated sites may be assessed.

Biosafety staff and methodologies are fully aligned with these government guidelines and best practice for occupational hygiene testing. We utilize NATA approved, independent test laboratories for all analysis, for a further level of assurance.

Right Methods, Right Results

The sampling methods, materials and choice of sampling points are critical to a valid and government guideline consistent set of results. Trained, qualified staff, appropriate controls to prevent cross-contamination of samples and rigorous “chain-of-custody” protection for samples have to be followed to obtain useful results. Misleadingly high or low results may occur with comparatively small errors in the process of sample collection or handling.

Test or Clean?

Biosafety International has the knowledge base to conduct chemical disinfection of a variety of chemical and biological contaminations. In this area, we normally limit our activities to assessment, to allow fully independent and objective reporting. Our recommendations can cover suggested cleaning objectives and methods if a contamination trigger level is found to have occurred. In general, once that cleaning process has been done (by others), the site will require re-assessment, before the issuance of a clearance certificate.
