Ultraviolet Disinfection
Ultraviolet Light Disinfection is a low cost, highly effective addition
to your cleaning and disinfection program to reduce organisms and
infections in addition to being a proven method of reducing a wide range
of pathogens on environmental surfaces. Due to its affordability, UV
disinfection allows facilities the opportunity to forego the usual "cost
vs coverage" debate that other (more expensive) disinfection systems
mandate.

THE TORCH
|

|
|
The TORCH Tower is an inexpensive, easily transportable, powerful
disinfection system designed for use in any healthcare, pharmaceutical,
manufacturing, laboratory, or research setting. It is used to provide a
rapid and highly effective method to disinfect surfaces, components,
room surfaces and common touch points to reduce the transfer of
dangerous organisms. It also offers a way to disinfect components
without removing them from the room, which helps minimize the chance for
cross-contamination.
Containing eight high powered UVC lamps the TORCH system provides quick
disinfection times providing efficent per-room disenfection times. It
simply plugs into any standard wall outlet. Each TORCH tower produces an
efficient UVC output of 12 mJ/minute (200 μw/cm2) to get a calculated
99% reduction of MRSA in 10 seconds and Cl ostridium difficile in 1
minute at 10 feet. A recent study shows that traditional UV systems such
as the TORCH provide similar results as expensive Pulsed Xenon
Ultraviolet Light Systems. Click here to read the full study
The TORCH system is designed to be so economical that multiple units
are affordable enough to place into a room at the same time to eliminate
shadow areas and maximize coverage for the most thorough disinfection
process.

Safety and standard features
• Motion Sensors to Reduce Accidental Exposure
Each Torch has four motion sensors on it which abort the UV exposure
when motion is detected. An emergency stop button is also located on the
Torch. The system must be manually reset if the exposure is aborted by
either the motion sensor or the emergency stop button. This prevents
inadvertent restart of UV-C exposure as a further safety precaution.
• Cycles Started Outside of Room
Once the Torch is setup within the room, it is turned on via a remote
control from outside of the room. This allows for safer operation
compared to other UV systems where the cycle is started from within the
room. Those systems utilize a timer which starts the cycle a set amount
of time after the start button is pressed. Accidental exposure can occur
if personnel is unable to exit the room within that amount of time due
to slips, falls, or distractions.

Decontamination as a service
In addition to providing the torch system as a product, BioSafety also
provides an at convenience, UV decontamination service. We will come to
you to deliver routine or one off UV decontamination of rooms, hallways
and equipment. The final stage of our service comes in the form of a
written report which will provide data on exposure and kill times for
each cycle, with the option for biological validation also avalible.

Ensuring disinfection
Our UV Sensor allows for the continuous monitoring of UV-C intensity
during a disinfection cycle. The UV Sensor reads UV-C intensity and
provides a cumulative UV-C dosage that is being exhibited at that
distance. The room number can also be entered for documentation
purposes. These values, along with the corresponding time and date
stamp, are saved via USB drive so that the data file can be used for
infection control and housekeeping logs. The Sensor Box can be located
outside of the room being disinfected, while the Sensor itself is
located at a specific distance or location to provide the UV-C dosage
being delivered to that position.
