BioSafety brings the chlorine dioxide gas decontamination process from ClorDiSYs in the USA to Australia.

The CD process

The CD process consists of 5 main steps

  1. 1

Raising of relative humidity levels to between 60-75%.
Increased humidity levels are necessary for all spore reduction.

  2. 2

Hold time once relative humidity set point has been reached. This is to allow spores to swell and crack due to humidity prior to gas introduction.

  3. 3

Generation and delivery of chlorine dioxide gas.

  4. 4

Hold time once chlorine dioxide gas concentration set point has been reached.

  5. 5

Removal of chlorine dioxide gas from chamber.

process advantages

The CD process has many advantages

  1. 1

    Safer on materials

Safer on materials than VPHP, bleach, ozone, and liquid chlorine dioxide solutions.

  2. 2

    Safest decontamination method

Safest decontamination method among gaseous and vaporous methods.

    • - Non-Carcinogenic.
    • - Non-flammable at use concentrations.
    • - Non-explosive, no need for Damage Limiting Construction (DLC).
    • - No measurable residuals.
  3. 3

Chlorine dioxide is a true gas at ambient temperature

    • - Complete distribution as chlorine dioxide is governed by gas laws.
    • - Quicker Aeration as CD does not condense onto materials.
  4. 4

    Chlorine dioxide gas concentration

Chlorine dioxide gas concentration can be accurately monitored throughout the cycle.

    • - VPHP cannot be accurately monitored as concentration is not uniform throughout area due to condensation and distribution gradients.
  5. 5

    Decontamination volumes

Able to completely decontaminate volumes over 1 million ft3 with multiple generators.

  6. 6

Chlorine dioxide gas has a very flexible process

    • - Effective at low concentrations.
    • - Effective over wide temperature range.
    • - Effective under ambient or vacuum pressures.
    • - Effective against a wide range of organisms.

Physical Containment (PC3/PC4) labs are facilities in which work is done with agents which may cause serious or potentially lethal disease after inhalation. This includes bacteria, viruses, and parasites which can be fatal to humans but treatment exists.

Today's healthcare professionals know the importance of a clean and sterile environment. BioSafety Pty Ltd offers many Chlorine Dioxide (CD) advantages for Medical Centres and Healthcare Facilities.

food & beverage

Chlorine dioxide has a long and established history. It has been safely used for more than 70 years to disinfect much of the nation's food and water supply, and is also used at more than 900 water treatment facilities around the world everyday.

BioSafety offers many Chlorine Dioxide (CD) advantages to Pharmaceutical and Medical Device companies. Chlorine dioxide gas is emerging as an industry leader in contamination control technology, proving to be both practical and cost-effective.
